The Out of the Darkness Walks, organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), are community events held across the United States. These walks aim to raise awareness about suicide prevention and generate funds for AFSP's programs. Participants include individuals affected by suicide and those who support them, all coming together to convey the message that suicide can be prevented and that no one is alone.

Event Types:

  • Community Walks: Held in over 400 communities nationwide, these walks unite friends, families, and supporters to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention.

  • Campus Walks: Taking place each spring at colleges and high schools across the country, these 5k walks engage young adults in AFSP's mission and programs.

  • The Overnight Walk: AFSP's flagship fundraising event, this challenging endurance walk occurs from dusk to dawn and rotates cities each year.
